Contemporary Māori Art—Swimming with the Cosmos.
A collaboration with Ali Davies and Cheri Waititi (Ngāti Porou, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui) on a series to celebrate Matariki, the Māori New Year, which takes place over June & July.
The harmonious gradations of teal to deep blue in this print give a sense of deep connection, depth of thinking, sincerity, wisdom, confidence and faith. The direction of the motif and movement of colour guide the viewer towards a deeper consciousness of the equality inherent in all beings and our interconnectedness to the universe.
This white interior mockup gives an example of scale. Would look equally lovely in a light natural wood frame. These pieces are impactful and suit a business or office environment or a spacious interior.
The Matariki stars are found low on the horizon and best seen in the small hours of the morning. It is a time of reflection, celebration and renewal. It is a time to remember those that have passed, to celebrate the present, to plan for the future, and to connect with nature.
